Tensions

Posted on by admin

Like everyone I have been watching the increase in racial tensions in North America. With the refugee crisis, mass shootings, political pundits and their inflaming rhetoric, it’s hard to miss the changing mood. Personally I am intrigued with the “black lives matter movement”, perhaps because I am of mixed race myself. Having said that, I must stop and look at bigger picture through the lens of the scriptures. Our Christian moral belief stems from the fact that God so loved the world, (inclusive of all colours and ethnic groups) that He gave His only begotten Son in ransom, so that none of us should perish.
Perhaps in our struggle for self-awareness we have forgotten our fellow travellers on this road of discovery. God’s plans and purposes for this world are inclusive of all races. The apostle John in his revelation saw a great multitude of people from every tribe, language, and nation, worshipping the Lamb around the throne in heaven. I am reminded of the children’s song, “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world, red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight”, maybe with that in mind we should work toward His world view.
