The Greatest Gift

I was driving down the road the other day and a sign in front of a church caught my attention. The sign read, “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift,” a quote from the apostle Paul’s writing in 2 Corinthians 9:15. The sign made me stop and reflect.

Regardless of how much we give, we cannot give like God gives. He has given an unspeakable gift. We did not merit the gift that God gave in giving us His own Son. Christ though he was rich, left heaven, left all the glory, and came down to this world not only to live but to die for you and me, in order that we might have eternal life. He made his soul a sacrifice for sin for you and me.

As I prepare my little Operation Christmas Child box that some child will open with excitement, and I watch with deep sadness the plight of our east coast friends who have suffered with the storms, I stop and think, the greatest gift that any of us can share or receive at this season is Jesus. I cannot out give God, but I can share His gift of love. This season, share The Gift.
